Wednesday, February 8th. Finish Trail of Tears reading. Chapter 12 Review Sheet/Game. Warm up: page 374, #s 3, 4 and 6.

Ch. 12 Review:

**Corrupt Bargain:1824-Clay backs Adams who is chosen as president. In return Adams appoints Clay as secretary of state. Jackson declares it as the Corrupt Bargain

**Adams- Whigs

**Tariff of Abominations:1828 Jackson made tariff on cotton, good for north, bad for south. Calhoun didnt agree so he resigned and became senator of South Carolina. He made the Nullification Act that made the tariff illegal. Jackson responded with the Force Act.

**Worcester vs. Georgia- trying to gain control of indians to remove them from their land. Supreme court sided with Native Americans but Jackson still made them leave and passed Indian Removal Act(1830) which led to Trail of Tears.

**Panic of 1837- Van Buren was president and nobody liked him because of the economic crisis

**Mudslinging:election of 1840 candidates insulted each other to make the opponent look bad

**election of 1840 Harrison vs. Van Buren, Harrison won but died a month later and Tyler became president. Tyler was kicked out of Whig party for vetoing the bank.
