  • Preamble: opening of the Constitution
  • Checks & Balances: branches can "check" the other branches of government,
  • Montesquieu: "powers should check power"
  • Federalism: power is divided between the federal gov't and states
  • Impeach: vote any federal official out of office, you are tried in the house and given the articles of impeachment, then the senate must vote to kick the federal official out of office
  • FEDERAL- executive, legislative: house and senate, judicial
  • STATE- executive: governor, legislative: house and senate, judicial
  • LOCAL- executive: mayor/ John Marks, City Commission has the power
  • Create a Staircase using the 13, 14, and 15 amendments.. starting with the Civil War ending
  • Create a Staircase using the 19 & 26 amendments
